WHAT IS EYELINER TATTOOING?
Eyeliner tattooing is a treatment that replaces the need to wear eyeliner each day, saving you time in your daily makeup routine. The semi-permanent cosmetic treatment involves using a tattooing technique to apply ink along the lash line to create the appearance of eyeliner (annual touchups are recommended due to fading over time). Eyeliner tattoos can be applied in a variety of styles, from extremely thin (natural lash enhancing), to thicker lines, and even winged eyeliner. The procedure also helps to improve the appearance of light-colored or missing lashes.
HOW LONG WILL MY EYELINER LOOK THIS GOOD?
Eyeliner is considered a permanent makeup tattoo. Your eyeliner tattoo will last a long time, about 5 to 10 years or even longer. You can still come back to do a refresh every few years if you feel that you need it done but if it still looks good then you don't have to.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
One session is all that is needed. A touchup is only needed if the treatment did not yield any results (for example if the skin did not hold any pigmentation). Please review our Eyeliner Tattoo Touchup Policy here.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
We ask clients to arrive 20 minutes before their scheduled appointment. We use this time to apply the numbing cream to your eyelids, which requires time to take effect. The tattoo procedure itself takes about 1 - 1.5 hour, depending on the eyeliner style you choose (includes consultation).
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for semi-permanent makeup. It is not recommended for any clients who are or have:
-
Glaucoma and those who are taking blood thinning medicines (e.g. Aspirin)
-
Chemotherapy and Other Cancer Treatments (please consult your doctor)
-
Diabetic (please consult your doctor)
-

-
AHA's (lactic, glycolic, citric, retinoid a d tartaric acids) or any OTC creams and lotions for tone correcting, anti-aging, exfoliating - fading can discolor your semi-permanent makeup.
-
Juvaderm or other "fillers" in the past 4 weeks.
-
Shingles (Varicella): If you have shingles on your face, please wait several months to get semi-permanent makeup.
WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY COSMETIC TATTOO?
-
Following the pre-care and post-care instructions are a MUST!
-
The regrowth of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds.
-
The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold.
-
The location of therapy: Enhancements to the face, as an example, fade faster as a result of constant direct exposure to UV rays.
-
Bleeding throughout the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing treatment will lower the amount of pigment absorption.
-
Alcohol as well as particular medications work as blood-thinners and must not be taken before and following your eyeliner procedure.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET TATTOOED?
You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo service at LoAnn's Brow Art Studio. If you are under the age of 18, please have a parent/legal guardian email us at LoAnnsBrowStudio@gmail.com for more information.
CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?

-
On the day of your scheduled appointment, please make sure to arrive with NO eyelash extensions, NO contact lens, NO makeup, and NO mascara on your eyes.

For your safety and the safety of your baby, if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, we cannot perform the procedure and will ask you to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
-
Avoid facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, microdermabrasions, botox injections and fillers for at least 2 to 3 weeks prior to your appointment.

If you have used Accutane within the last year, we will be unable to perform the procedure as it leads to increased swelling, bleeding, and pain. It will also impede your skin's healing process.
-

-
If you wear contact lens, please do not wear them at your appointment and refrain from wearing contacts for at least 4 hours post procedure.

Post-Care Instrucations
(How to Care for your Eyeliner Tattoo)
-
Wash your face normally with a gentle face cleanser and apply a thin layer of ointment onto your eyeliner at nighttime for at least 4 to 5 days. You may apply the ointment in the morning if the area is dry.
-
Do not pick, rub or peel off your scabs, to avoid bald spots, scars, or infection (itching is normal as skin is repairing itself).
-
Keep the treated area clean and dry (use a q-tip)), avoid environments that would cause dirt or germs to contact the area while healing.
-
Gently wash the treated area to remove bacteria, build-up of product and oils, and dead skin. After washing, use a clean cotton pad or tissue to blot dry the area, and apply a thin layer of ointment with a q-tip. We suggest using gentle soaps, such as Dial, Cetaphil, etc.
-
Avoid tanning for at least 3 to 4 weeks after procedure.
-
It is recommended to not sweat and exercise after the procedure for at least a week.
-
Keep your hair away from your face.
-
No eye makeup (mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, etc.) on the treated area for 3-4 days.
-
Do not use mascara until outer healing is complete.
-
Avoid sleeping on your face, use a fresh pillowcase.
-
Avoid face-down swimming in pool, sea, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 7-10 days.
-
Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.
-
Do not wear contact lenses until at least 24 hours after the procedure.
-
Have sunglasses available to protect the treated area from UV rays.
-
Do not dye, perm, or use an eyelash curler for 2 weeks.
-
Expect eyelids to be a bit puffy and swollen for a couple days.
-
Eyes may feel dry/irritated and may be sensitive to light post procedure. You may bring your sunglasses and lubricated your eyes with eye drops.
-
No eyelash serums or growth stimulation, these products might cause pigment migration.
-
Picking or pulling off skin that is not ready to come off will cause pigment loss and can pull out deeper tissue.
Healing Process
(What to Expect During the Healing Process)
-
Day 1 | Procedure day! Eyeliner may be slightly larger and darker. This is due to color oxidation and is a normal part of the healing process.
-
Day 2-3 | Your eyeliner may feel tight and dry but not painful.
-
Day 3-5 | Your eyeliner will begin to flake and shed naturally due to healing. It is common for your color to appear lighter then it will eventually heal. This is only temporary as your freshly healed skin is hiding the true color underneath. Over the next several weeks your color will bloom.
-
Day 42 | At 6 weeks your eyeliner is fully healed.
Signs and symptoms of infection (please contact your physician at first sign of infection):
-
Fever
-
Feeling Waves of Heat and Cold
-
Abnormal Shivering
-
Swelling of the Tattooed Area
-
Pus Coming Out of the Tattooed Area
-
Red Lesions Around the Tattooed Area
-
